Reeds

I have been selling handcrafted oboe reeds since 2011. I studied reed making with David Weber, owner of the internationally known company Weber Reeds Inc. I also studied extensively with Martin Schuring and Dr. Michele Fiala during my graduate and undergraduate years.

I offer three types of reeds: OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Beginner/Medium-Soft: Free-blowing and stable with a nice big sound, great for oboists in their first years  of playing, built tough to withstand pinching or biting.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIntermediate/Medium: Free-blowing and stable with a more refined and consistent tone, designed to be played farther out on the tip, a good choice for oboists with a more developed embouchure but not yet ready for a professional level reed.

Professional: Refined and stable with a rich tone, designed to be played farther out on the tip with no pinching, allows for the complete range of expressive and musical playing!

All my reeds are handmade, play-tested and guaranteed against arriving cracked or leaking.

I also offer a subscription service for customers who wish to receive a certain number of reeds on a regular basis. I keep track of when reeds are due to be sent, so my customers don’t have to worry about running out of reeds.

To place an order, visit my Etsy shop, check out my Facebook page, or email me at erinsoboestudio@gmail.com. Questions about my reeds? Just ask!

We are in need of a reed. URGENTLY . My daughter has a performance on Friday, this week. Would you be able to rush an intermediate reed to us?

Erin, I think I’ve gotten reeds from you before, but lost your contact info somehow. I accidentally brought only $20 with me and I was playing a 4th of July concert…I am in need of another for the Christmas season!

    Hello,
I live in the San Antonio area and was wondering if there is a physical place to buy a reed from you. I play oboe as more of a hobby but would like to pick up an intermediate since I haven’t played for a good 6 months and would like to get back into it. Let me know if it’s possible. I also used to buy Weber reeds when I lived in Cottonwood, AZ. Such a wonderful company!

Hello! While I don’t have a store front, you are welcome to swing by my home to pick up reed orders. I live on the northeast side of the city. With a week’s notice in the slower months, or 2-3 weeks notice September-April, I can have reeds ready to be picked up. You can email me at erin.m.webber@gmail.com for more info or to place an order. It is always lovely to meet fellow SA oboists!

    Hello Erin,

My daughter has been playing oboe for two or three years now and her teacher/conductor Aleshia Shouse recommended we contact you about some good oboe reeds. I looked on your Etsy store, and did not see any of the $15 beginner oboe reeds. Have you sold out of those? When might they be available in the future?
    Thank you & God Bless
    Joel

Hi Joel! My beginner/medium-soft reeds are $18 now. They were $16.50 for a number of years – I didn’t realize I still had pricing on my website, it has been a very long time since the beginner reeds were $15. I do offer free shipping for orders over $35, as well as for customers who set up a regular recurring order. If you’d like more information on the recurring orders, shoot me a message on Etsy and I will send you my email address! Thank you so much! – Erin
